{"id":480,"date":"2011-06-08T16:24:54","date_gmt":"2011-06-08T23:24:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/anatomycorner.com\/main\/?p=480"},"modified":"2015-04-20T17:39:38","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T00:39:38","slug":"gallery-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anatomycorner.com\/main\/2011\/06\/08\/gallery-improvements\/","title":{"rendered":"Gallery Improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anatomy classes of \u00a0 2010-2011 dissected a cat. \u00a0Throughout the year, I took photos of the dissection. \u00a0I have begun the process of cleaning up the photos, deleting and categorizing so that I can improve on the galleries of this site.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, the galleries are categorized by the main theme, usually a body system, but in some cases it may be an activity students did in class, such as the blood type analysis. \u00a0The galleries are hosted on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/\">https:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/<\/a> to save on \u00a0bandwidth load. \u00a0 \u00a0All gallery links are located in the menu (to the left).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"DSCN1529[1].JPG\" href=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-PRkjJcDFwjg\/TcCvJkEh0aI\/AAAAAAAAIsk\/cqhg3HW8Amw\/DSCN1529%25255B1%25255D.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 3px;\" title=\"DSCN1529[1].JPG\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-PRkjJcDFwjg\/TcCvJkEh0aI\/AAAAAAAAIsk\/cqhg3HW8Amw\/s150-c\/DSCN1529%25255B1%25255D.JPG\" alt=\"DSCN1529[1].JPG\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I know the images of the cat dissection can be disturbing to some. \u00a0Keep in mind, these are advanced students who have &#8220;earned&#8221; a spot in anatomy class by passing other science classes. \u00a0Most plan to go into a medical field. \u00a0The cats are obtained via animal control where they were\u00a0euthanized due to overpopulation. \u00a0 These cats are not killed for the sole purpose of dissection.<\/p>\n<p>Dissections serve as a valuable tool for learning anatomy. \u00a0Students can use models and computers to simulate dissections, but in the end there is no substitute for a three dimensional animal model. \u00a0 During the course of the year, students learn about the structures and functions, and also learn to treat specimens with respect. \u00a0Ethics are part of any anatomy class.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, these students will probably be working on human specimens to learn anatomy and complete a degree in a related biological field.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anatomy classes of \u00a0 2010-2011 dissected a cat. \u00a0Throughout the year, I took photos of the dissection. \u00a0I have begun the process of cleaning up the photos, deleting and categorizing so that I can improve on the galleries of this site.
