href=\"http:\/\/anatomycorner.com\/main\/2015\/10\/06\/atlas-and-axis\/\">atlas<\/a>, shown in the photo\u00a0(blue dot ) articulates with the occipital condyle on the lower surface of the skull. \u00a0 \u00a0The occipital condyles are located as protuberances on both sides of the foramen magnum, the large opening through which the spinal cord passes.<\/p>\n<p><a
